About The Position

The Transporter is responsible for transporting patients and equipment. This role requires good organizational abilities, the ability to coordinate with several interdisciplinary departments, and the ability to relate well to physicians, nursing personnel, patients, and families. The Transporter must display professional communication skills and provide leadership in a diverse work group. The position is integral to ensuring positive patient interactions and maintaining the safety and comfort of patients during transport.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, and lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients to and from Imaging departments by wheelchair or stretcher observing all safety guidelines.
• Uses the PATRA System to log transportation data.
• Displays knowledge in transporting patients of all ages: newborn, pediatrics, adolescence, adults, and geriatric.
• Observes patients' conditions before transport and obtains permission to transport.
• Maintains stretchers with clean linen and assures they are always ready for use.
• Stocks changing areas daily with clean linen and notifies laundry of shortages.
• Secures all oxygen tanks and maintains appropriate supply for all shifts daily.
• Assists with the ordering and stocking of department supplies.
• Attends Code of Conduct training course annually.
• Demonstrates conduct that is reflective of THRH's commitment to HCA's Code of Conduct.
