About The Position

The Transporter position at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center involves the accurate and efficient transportation of patients, wheelchairs, stretchers, and traction equipment within the facility. The role supports nursing philosophy to enhance patient care and requires adherence to safety measures while using transport equipment. The transporter is responsible for cleaning, repairing, and maintaining equipment, ensuring operability, and performing duties consistent with the mission and values of Cape Fear Health System.

Requirements

• At least 1-year experience in patient transportation services and prior hospital experience preferred.
• Must meet and maintain the requirements of a healthcare transporter.
• Ability to meet CPR for Healthcare Provider requirements.
• Completion of Nonviolent Crises Intervention (NCI) training and Restraints, Seclusion and Safety devices training.
• Ability to identify, understand, and regulate flow meter on E-Cylinder.
• Ability to manipulate and monitor transport equipment accompanying patients.
• Ability to display good problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and flexibility.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with pediatric, adolescent, adult, bariatric, and geriatric patients.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients, wheelchairs, stretchers, and traction equipment to and from nursing units and ancillary departments.
• Use transport equipment correctly while adhering to safety measures.
• Clean, repair, and maintain transport equipment for operability.
• Support the nursing philosophy to provide better patient care.
• Discharge and transfer patients, maneuvering wheelchairs and stretchers, including post mortem transport.
• Demonstrate exemplary customer service skills.
• Quickly assess situations and respond promptly and appropriately.
