About The Position

DMC Harper University Hospital has distinguished itself in surgery and medicine and is known for its clinical expertise and innovative research. A specialty referral hospital, Harper has established Centers of Excellence in neurosciences, bariatric surgery, vascular services, multidisciplinary cardiovascular services, hypertension, stroke prevention and heart failure. Under general supervision, and according to established policies and procedures, performs transporter duties which may include, but are not limited to escorting and/or transporting patients within the hospital. Escorts patients by stretcher, wheelchair or bed for treatment, testing, admitting, discharge and intra-hospital transfers. Delivers on request specimens, patient charts and various other patient related materials to specified department or other hospital area. The Detroit Medical Center retains the right to create and revise all job descriptions, at its sole discretion.

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, follow written and oral instructions.
• Perform general clerical functions related to the job.
• No previous related experience required; one to four weeks on-the-job training.

Responsibilities

• Escort and transport patients within the hospital using stretcher, wheelchair, or bed.
• Deliver specimens, patient charts, and other patient-related materials to specified departments or areas.
