About The Position

The Transporter position at Parkwest Medical Center involves the transportation of patients within the hospital, ensuring their comfort and safety during transit. This role is critical as transporters are often the first and last point of contact for patients, requiring excellent customer service skills. The position operates on a night shift schedule and is part of the Central Transport department, which is responsible for moving patients between various hospital departments and assisting with equipment moves.

Requirements

• No formal education required; any combination of education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate the necessary knowledge, skill, and ability.
• Preference may be given to individuals possessing a high school diploma or GED.
• CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients to and from destinations, accommodating varying degrees of complexity such as the use of oxygen and proper isolation precautions.
• Monitors and utilizes the patient flow board for assignments.
• Performs defined safety protocols including double identification and various isolation procedures.
• Maintains open lines of communication between patients, family, physicians, peers, and leadership.
• Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards, completing required education assignments annually.
• Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
