About The Position

Gladman is licensed as a 40-bed Mental Health Rehabilitation Center (MHRC) providing sub-acute psychiatric treatment to adults 18 and older. Full Time | Monday-Friday | Hours: 8:00 am-4:30 pm Expected starting wage is $21.78. Telecare applies geographic differentials to its pay ranges. The pay range assigned to this role will be based on the geographic location from which the role is performed. Starting pay is commensurate with relevant experience above the minimum requirements. POSITION OBJECTIVE The Transportation Worker is responsible for transporting of clients to off site appointments, as well as other transportation assignments.

Requirements

  • One (1) year of experience providing direct care to individuals with severe or chronic mental disorders is required.
  • A High School diploma or a G.E.D. equivalent and a valid Class C California Drivers License and insurability are required.
  • Must attain Class ‘B’ licensure within sixty (60) days of the date of hire.
  • Necessary skills include the ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • The ability to read, write and speak English is crucial.
  • Applicant must be finger printed and receive clearance from Criminal Justice Department.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with severely and persistently mentally ill adults is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and schedules client transportation, as directed.
  • Prepares a master schedule for all client transportation needs each week, as directed.
  • Transports clients to scheduled appointments and outings.
  • Documents client appointments, behavior and any pertinent interactions in the medical record.
  • Monitors clients during transportation.
  • Conduct vehicle safety check before each use.
  • Establishes and maintains a therapeutic relationship with clients and acts as a role model in maintaining a hopeful and positive attitude in problem-solving and coping with the disabilities associated with mental illness.
  • Protects clients from behavior which could damage their self esteem and/or the facilities’ relationship with other agencies.
  • When assigned to a nursing station, performs the duties of a Mental Health Worker.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Professional Assault Response Training (PART) principles and uses PART concepts to manage aggressive behavior.
  • Participates as a team member and provides input via reporting observations, concerns and asking appropriate questions.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and proper use of equipment and supplies.
  • Demonstrates a good rapport and cooperative working relationships with all members of the team; responds to co‑workers with concern and promotes group morale.
  • Continually focuses on assigned tasks and seeks and implements improvements as necessary.
  • Understands and demonstrates the safety program in all activities.
  • Practices universal precautions at all times.
  • Demonstrates a knowledge of Telecare’s customers including clients/clients, families and governmental agencies in all interactions and conduct.
  • Acts in a professional manner, always demonstrating respect and understanding of the community and neighborhood when representing Telecare in the community.
  • Completes and follows through with tasks and assignments, meeting expected deadlines.
  • Understands and demonstrates knowledge of all policies associated with attendance.
  • Attends all assigned in‑service education classes.
  • Always dresses appropriately and professionally.
