About The Position

The Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) is seeking a Transportation Worker to join its team in Region 1 (Southern Maine), specifically in Bridgton, ME. This role is crucial for maintaining safe and effective roadways and bridges, ensuring the safety of Mainers on state roads, bridges, and highways. Transportation Workers are at the forefront of roadwork, engaging in tasks such as road repair and culvert replacement during the summer, and plowing in the winter. Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Required to work at a higher class as necessary and in accordance with required licenses and/or certification
  • Pass a State-paid Medical examination that includes a drug test
  • Pass the Department’s Respirator fit test
  • Possess a Class C State of Maine license by the first day of employment
  • Obtain and retain a valid Class B State of Maine license during the initial six-month probationary period
  • Ability to become a certified snow fighter within 12 months
  • Ability to obtain flagger certification within a specified amount of time
