DRMP's Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) Division is actively seeking Transportation Technicians/CEI Inspectors at all levels to join our team in the Roanoke area. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful execution of construction projects, particularly in the transportation sector. As a Transportation Technician/CEI Inspector, you will be responsible for performing complex technical assignments that include field surveying, construction layout, engineering computations, and inspecting construction work. You will also conduct field tests to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards. In this position, you will be assigned to a home office but will primarily report to the field or project site. Your responsibilities will include providing on-site contract compliance inspection for roadway, structure, and bridge construction projects. You will monitor schedules and budgets while ensuring quality assurance throughout the project lifecycle. Effective communication with the project manager, supervisors, DOT, and contractors is essential, as you will need to report on progress and any issues that arise during construction. Hands-on training and mentoring will be provided to support your career development. You will be expected to familiarize yourself with DOT Standard Specifications, Standard Drawings, and the Construction Manual. Your role will also involve performing on-site testing for various materials, obtaining measurements, and maintaining detailed records of daily activities. You will be responsible for identifying potential issues and reporting them to the contractor and project engineer, ensuring that all work is completed according to contract specifications. Additionally, you will be required to adhere to safety protocols and regulations, as the work environment will expose you to various hazards typical of construction sites. This position requires a self-motivated individual who can work effectively in a team environment and maintain accountability for their tasks.
