About The Position
As a support team member for the transportation group, you will be performing a variety of tasks including but not limited to: Be capable of independent action to provide direction and oversight for daily transportation efforts of 12 vehicle operators. Represent organization in coordinating transportation of customer and company assets locally and across the country; provide cost estimates for vendor vs. company option. Using expert knowledge, provide estimate of manpower costs and non-labor funds required for major transportation efforts in support of business proposals/new products. Travel over the road as a transportation SME for oversized or critical flight-hardware shipments. Plan and track transportation efforts, ensure conflicts are identified and resolved, develop solutions to complex problems using experience and judgment, while following applicable policies. Manage driver qualification files and daily DOT compliance paperwork; coordinate with Transportation Safety Advisory vendor to resolve discrepancies. Obtain various oversize, fuel, trip and other miscellaneous vehicle permits to support mission requirements. Train and develop skills of represented employees who operate fleet vehicles or perform dispatch duties.
