What You’ll Do: As a Transportation Support team member, you will be responsible for the tracking, cataloging, maintenance, repair, and preparation of all racing tires and wheels held by the company on behalf of clients. Also responsible for the general transportation activities inclusive of car movement, general maintenance, and pre/post event loading and unloading. This position is an active member of the Transportation Department and provides appropriate support to the department as directed. Attendance is an essential function of the job.

Requirements

  • You’re mechanically inclined and not afraid to get your hands dirty
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and thrive in fast-paced settings
  • Comfortable using basic computer systems
  • Team-oriented with strong communication skills
  • Hold a valid driver’s license and can lift/move at least 50 lbs
  • High School diploma or equivalent required

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift, skid steer, snowplow, and trailer loading experience? That’s a plus!
  • CDL preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Properly and accurately track all tires and wheels for all racing clients according to the guidelines of each racing series and in compliance with company standards and expectations.
  • Maintain all tire usage logs, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of each log.
  • Develop and adhere to schedules for maintaining, repairing, mounting/dismounting, and preparing tires and wheels in a timely manner for each event.
  • Ensure that all tires and wheels and associated equipment are properly prepared for loading.
  • In consultation with the Team Manager and/or Crew Chief, properly mount and dismount tires in preparation for racing events. Mount all tires to the standards outlined by race engineers and/or the client.
  • Inspect all tires and wheels to ensure they meet or exceed all safety standards and requirements appropriate for race cars.
  • Ensure tires are clearly and properly marked and identified for trackside use.
  • Using appropriate tools and techniques, remove dirt, debris, excess rubber, and any other material that affects the performance or appearance of the tires and wheels.
  • Operates and maintains diagnostic equipment, hand/power tools, tire changing machines, balancing equipment, and other specialized automotive tools and machinery.
  • Examines damaged, defective, or flat tires to determine the extent of damage and the feasibility of repair; and recommends the disposal of non-repairable tires.
  • Perform tire and wheel services for other departments as requested.
  • Maintain cleanliness and general presentation of the transporter for the team and guests.
  • Assist with the preparation of driver gear and maintaining the driver bag for each event.
  • Handling specialty gear requests from drivers and maintaining inventory of gear.
  • Coordinate with the Logistics manager on hospitality set up and resources.
  • Inventory management of the transporter and equipment.
  • Ensure that all mobile pit equipment is stocked properly.
  • Clean tires, trucks trailers, race cars and shop.
  • Assist with general movement of vehicles within the shop.
  • Load and unload trucks and trailers before and after the event.
  • Perform minor repairs.
  • Report work status and special problems to the manager in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain a clean, safe working environment.
  • Support for and adherence to Kellymoss’s policies and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned.
