About The Position

Primary function of this position is to ensure proper management of the assigned dispatch coordinators in the management of company assets for the safe and efficient movement of freight. This would also include the management of approved outside Carriers. The position requires professional communications, computer and presentation skills. Position represents the company in a positive image with employees, customers and the community always performing in a safe and ethical manner to achieve financial success.

Requirements

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of ten years in a dispatch or load planning position with supervisory experience in a fleet size/or driver size of 50 or more.
  • Previous experience in a transportation supervisor position.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Good communication skills both written and oral.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent personal computer skills and working knowledge of transportation software.
  • Knowledge of Transportation fleet models.
  • Extensive knowledge in Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and CTPAT.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily work of the assigned dispatch to plan, execute, monitor and manage a component of assigned drivers/equipment.
  • Implement customer plans, routes, schedules, and to pick up or deliver freight.
  • Coordinate the assigned dispatchers for the efficient and timely entry of all company and customer related data into the company transportation software.
  • Work closely with company Load Planners and outside Carriers.
  • Ensure assigned dispatchers execute the efficient Load Plan models to meet customer needs.
  • Communicate essential information of pick up and delivery to customers, carriers, and drivers.
  • Update the transportation software database files with relevant information.
  • Report all accidents and incidents regarding driver injury, equipment, and safety concerns.
  • Ensure proper training of all assigned dispatchers.
  • Complete all department required forms and documents in a timely manner.
  • Manage dispatch accountability as it relates to DOT compliance, operations, equipment usage, and company policies.
  • Monitor and obtain KPI and Productivity goals as established by the SCM Dispatch Manager.
  • Follow all workplace processes and standards in support of the ISO-9001 Quality certification program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
