About The Position

As a Transportation Supervisor, you will provide day-to-day supervision of employees and bus operations on the road, helping to ensure safe and reliable service to customers throughout our service area. You will positively influence and effectively reduce conflict by motivating and directing the work of others within established policies and procedures. You will troubleshoot common operational problems and recognize when to elevate issues to a higher level of management. You will also confer with customers and staff to exchange information and resolve problems. You will need to perform duties in any of the following Supervisor roles: Field Supervision: Maintain service operations by troubleshooting common operational problems and investigating accidents and/or events in the field. In-House Construction and Events Supervision: Focus on traffic and road construction changes within the service area that impact safe and reliable service. Most work is in an office setting and at local and regional partner meeting locations. In-House Dispatch Supervision: Orchestrate field operations through direction to field supervisors, dispatchers, and coach operators, using APTS and radio systems to allocate customer-facing resources. In-House Employee Staff Supervision: Use specialized software for scheduling of represented staff and researching customer service matters. Coach and counsel employees to support performance development.

Requirements

  • Valid Washington State Driver's License by date of hire.
  • Demonstrated good driving record, documented by a 5-year driving records report.
  • One or more years of experience in a work environment dealing with critical or emergency situations.
  • Ability to adjust to frequent work schedule changes and maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Ability to work any day or any shift assigned, including nights, early mornings, split shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Practices that deliver excellent customer service.
  • Washington State and local traffic and vehicle laws.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety rules and regulations are followed.
  • Direct coach operators in their assignments to resolve conflicting priorities and obtain cooperation.
  • Handle day-to-day problems that arise with employees.
  • Coach employees on how to best resolve problems.
  • May counsel or discipline employees and follow up with documentation for review by management.
  • Manage sensitive and difficult personnel matters in a confidential and professional manner.
  • Prepare and maintain written and electronic documentation efficiently and accurately.
  • Effectively communicate with employees and customers.
  • Protect confidential information.
  • Convey a proactive, positive attitude and represent the agency effectively in all situations.
  • Assist employees who appear unfit or who report they are unfit for work.
  • Assess situations to determine how policies and/or procedures apply.
  • May relieve the employee and arrange for transportation home or to medical care.
  • May be required to drive a coach in these situations.
  • Monitor service changes and provide feedback on service for management review.
  • Investigate accidents according to policies and procedures, ensuring integrity of evidence.
  • Participate in special projects and task forces within the agency.
  • Perform other tasks of a similar nature or level.
