As a Laborer, you will be responsible for helping other team members with fabrication and welding, operating machinery, deliveries, and maintenance & shop chores.

Requirements

  • Capable of effectively representing Alliance Steel in professional settings
  • Ability to stand, sit, and/or walk on a hard surface as well as safely bend, stoop, reach, climb steps, and use a ladder.
  • Lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Vision abilities required: close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Vision to accurately read all related distribution documents and computer monitor screens.

  • Scheduling and dispatching drivers, work crews, vehicles or equipment to appropriate locations according to predetermined schedules, customer requests or immediate needs
  • Relaying information such as work orders or other messages to and from work crews, field inspectors, supervisors.
  • Using telephones, two-way radios or text messages to contact employees

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations of transportation.
  • Maximize efficiency of the area while maintaining safety and quality
  • Test and monitor shop processes
  • Remain in compliance with facility standards and all HSE guidelines
  • Prepare, analyze, and issue performance reports
  • Control costs to achieve company budget goals
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive preventative maintenance program
  • On Time Delivery - Coordinate with the shop and the schedule
  • Work with quality and ABS departments to finalize documentation for customers
  • Manage costs and shop supplies while maintaining all safety and quality programs
  • Conduct root-cause analysis on safety and quality incidents and implement processes to prevent further occurrences.
  • Manage CRT– Establish measurements, communicate, execute, coach, and hold accountable
  • Manage contractors and coordinate between trucking and the shop through planning and scheduling. Ensure that each shop is utilized and efficient. Identify and eliminate bottlenecks in daily processes.
  • Assist in Inventory Management and transactional discipline
  • DOT Compliance and scheduled audits
  • Maximization of CRT Utilization of deliveries and/or pick-ups
  • Communication with Customers for delivery timing
  • Ensure communication between the loading department and ABS to minimize and finalize back orders
  • Manage PO Process for all Contractor deliveries – verify pricing and ensure good representation of Alliance for all vendors used
  • Verifies all component tickets and CS tickets are delivered on time
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as necessary
