About The Position

The Transportation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing yard operations and managing a team of switchers across multiple shifts. This role ensures the safe and efficient movement of trailers within the yard, maintains accurate yard inventory, and supports operational flow through effective communication and system management. The Supervisor plays a key role in enforcing safety standards, optimizing yard processes, and fostering a productive team environment. We have 3 different shifts available for this role. Monday - Thursday, 5:00AM - 3:30PM Monday - Friday, 4:00PM - 12:30AM Friday - Sunday, 5:00AM - 5:30PM

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-3 years in transportation, yard operations, or logistics supervision.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities; proficiency in yard management systems (e.g., Kaleris) preferred.
  • Familiarity with DOT regulations, safety standards, and trailer movement processes.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all switcher moves are completed safely and in a timely manner to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Verify that switchers perform all required responsibilities, including pre-trip inspections, fueling, and adherence to scheduled breaks.
  • Manage attendance, payroll, and scheduling for switchers, including vacation, sick time, and shift coverage.
  • Maintain clear communication with drivers, dock personnel, shop staff, and other departments to support smooth yard operations.
  • Conduct regular yard checks and scans during shifts to update trailer locations in Kaleris and monitor equipment condition, reporting any damage or issues promptly.
  • Oversee the general maintenance and operability of yard horses during assigned shifts.
  • Monitor Kaleris system performance, making necessary corrections to RFID tags, trailer locations, and other yard management functions.
  • Maintain accurate records of trailer movements and equipment status to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Train and coach switchers on safety protocols, operational procedures, and best practices.
  • Address and resolve operational issues quickly, escalating concerns when needed.
  • Prepare shift reports summarizing productivity, equipment status, and any incidents.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
