Job Summary: Responsible for the overall supervision, coordination and facilitation of transportation services as provided by the drivers. Responsible to ensure optimal safety of vehicle operations, driver accountability and training, and regulatory compliance. Works in close collaboration with Transportation Assistants, Center Administrators, IDT and Administration to provide safe, efficient and quality transportation services for LIFE Pittsburgh Participants and pre-enrollees. Essential Functions: Responsible to provide all training, management and supervision to ensure safe vehicle operations for optimal participant customer service, care, and safety. This includes, but is not limited to, successful onboarding of new employees, initial and annual competency evaluations and ongoing reinforcement trainings. Will provide above noted trainings to ensure drivers have a high level of competency with vehicle operations for all or specific vehicles they will operate (Bus, Transit, and Minivan), safe lift operations and Participant securement including DME, disinfection, infection control, and emergency procedures. Will identify additional training needs for new or acute situations to ensure drivers have the knowledge and skills to safely transport Participants with specific needs. Continual assessment of driver performance to include simulated activities, “live” on road assessments, video/camera review and Participant/Caregiver interviews to ensure drivers continue to have the highest level of competence and safety. Monitors all daily, weekly and monthly vehicle logs to monitor for compliance, accuracy and areas that need addressed. Investigates all damage/issues with vehicles to identify root cause factors, recommends adaptations or corrections needed and/or corrective action if warranted. Maintains a professional relationship and effectively communicates with Participants, caregivers, drivers and contracted providers to promote positive outcomes and satisfaction. Collaborates with Transportation Manager to ensure solid understanding of route scheduling and operations to ensure driver compliance and optimal customer service and to stay in compliance with budgetary limits. Expected to actively participate in the quality assurance program and will provide monthly reporting to demonstrate the overall safety of operations. Performs all HR related functions for employees including, but not limited to, interviewing and selection, tracking position requirements, performance management and payroll functions. Working Conditions: Primarily will work in the field with the drivers and vehicles and within the fleet warehouse. In addition, will be in the LIFE Pittsburgh Adult Day Health Centers (ADHC), travels to and works in Participant residences, hospitals, nursing home facilities or other settings in which the Participant may need support. Occasional travel for other related functions. Awareness that working with LIFE Pittsburgh Participants (in the home or the center) involves the potential for exposure to unpleasant sights and smells, exposure to blood borne pathogens and/or other communicable diseases. Universal Precautions must be utilized at all times. Consistent LIFE Pittsburgh vehicle exposure and on vehicle / on the road interaction will be expected.
