About The Position

The Transportation Supervisor is responsible for supervising all aspects of train operations to provide, a safe work environment and a high or exceptional quality of service for all customers. Pay range from $87,000.00 to $95,000.00.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required, bachelors degree preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in transit or railroad operations with at least three years as a Train Operator preferred; 2 years of experience in a previous leadership position preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work with a diverse leadership team, staff and the external public.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and proficiency in software applications used to analyze data and prepare correspondence and reports.
  • Must be available 24 hours/7 days a week to respond to emergencies with the ability to work alternate shifts, extended shifts, and days as required.
  • Must possess a valid drivers license.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and successfully pass a pre-employment background check, drug and alcohol screening, physical examination, including FRA vision and hearing requirements and be willing to comply with the DTO Drug and Alcohol Policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a commuter rail and FRA environment preferred.
  • Current or previously certified under CFR 240 preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure Train Operators perform their duties diligently and in accordance with Company policies and FRA regulations.
  • Coach and develop Train Operators and provide the required documentation for certifications upon passing training program.
  • Coach and develop Train Operators who are falling below company standards related to train handling and attendance.
  • Respond to request for downloads of EMUs and perform an evaluation of Train Operators performance for review.
  • Conduct investigations and recommend corrective actions for rule violations and/or performance deficiencies.
  • Respond to emergency and non-emergency incidents by assessing the situation and providing the appropriate Company personnel with on sight assessments.
  • Provide timely communication to Operations Control Center (OCC), support first responders and act as the Railroad Operations Commander (ROC).
  • Conduct required efficiency tests as assigned quarterly and quality service inspections by monitoring vehicle loading procedures, observing personnel, station and vehicle cleanliness, listening to PA announcements and ensuring safety conditions are met.
  • Perform fitness for duty checks and act as a Company representative for reasonable cause or post accidental testing procedures.
  • Implement safety program and ensure all Company policies, rules and regulations are met to protect our employees and the public; Anticipate hazardous and unsafe conditions and implement appropriate procedures to mitigate such conditions.
  • Support recruitment efforts by attending job fairs and interviewing candidates.
  • Remain current of all rules, regulations, standard operating procedures, and contractual obligations governing day-to-day operations.
  • Submit documentation that involves incidents resulting in delays, safety concerns, or in general, effects daily operations, to the proper Manager or Supervisor.
  • Report by first means available, unsafe conditions or unusual occurrences to OCC, proper Manager or Supervisor.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
