About The Position

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team as a Night Transportation Supervisor for the Warehouse/Distribution Center in Pompano Beach, FL. We are looking for individuals who enjoy working the night shift in a fast-paced work environment. Sun Commodities is a privately held company and we are one of the main players in the wholesale of produce in the Southeast. Sun group of companies distributes produce locally, internationally and has serviced the cruise industry for over 20+ years! The Transportation Supervisor/Manager is responsible for overseeing a wide variety of transportation activities. This position will coordinate with the Transportation Department Manager concerning all the functions associated with the transportation department relating to the outbound distribution of produce from our distribution center in Pompano Beach, FL. These include guiding drivers, properly coordinating equipment, monitoring policies and ensuring safety policy and procedures. This job includes, but is not limited to:

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in managing a private fleet and 3rd party carriers.
  • Experience managing multiple distribution center locations and satellite yards.
  • Experience with Fleet & Route optimization software (Road net, Xata, etc.,)
  • Knowledge of OSHA, DOT and other regulatory requirements

Nice To Haves

  • 4-year college degree (Preferred)
  • Experience in perishable distribution (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Schedules emergency and routine maintenance and repairs of all fleet vehicles and equipment
  • Manages vehicle inspections for all fleet vehicles, ensuring that they have been carried out.
  • Arranges for back-up vehicles as needed to ensure uninterrupted deliveries to all customers.
  • Directs fleet utilization to ensure optimization of routes as directed by management.
  • Manages Department, trains, supervises, evaluates, and coaches all fleet drivers as directed by management.
  • Review daily pre and post inspection to ensure fleet is legal and to track any damage incurred.
  • Assesses and regularly provides management with updates on safety and driving.
  • Tracking of driver performance, driving habits and productivity
  • Oversee dispatch process and on time deliveries for customer audits.
  • Driver ride with as directed by management.
  • Maintains and ensures all fleet drivers are licensed, trained, certified and tested as per the D.O.T. rules, regulations and Company policies.
  • Maintains and monitors D.Q. files consisting of all documentation associated with driving records, physicals, testing, training, and licensing according to D.O.T. rules, regulations and Company policies.
  • Maintains and monitors fleet compliance records for DOT and government agencies.
