About The Position

The Transportation Supervisor provides direct supervision and coordination of the daily activities related to transportation programs and roles, such as drivers and/or transportation administrative support roles. This position involves creating schedules and assigning routes to maximize efficiencies and enhance company profitability. The supervisor ensures compliance with transportation regulations and company policies and procedures, analyzes and resolves work problems, and assists team members in solving work problems. Additionally, the supervisor is responsible for selecting, developing, and evaluating team members to ensure efficient operations. Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience in the related area.
  • Requires thorough knowledge of functional area processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of EPA regulations, transportation equipment and associated vehicle maintenance requirements.

  • Knowledgeable in federal, state and local regulation concerning transportation matters.
  • Knowledge of EPA and DOT regulations and of transportation principles and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provides day to day supervision of CDL Drivers for employees.
  • Plan schedules and routes to ensure maximum efficiencies.
  • Ensures the vehicle fleet is properly maintained.
  • Ensures compliance with Federal, State and Local laws for Hazardous Material and Hazardous Waste shipments.
  • Monitors and assists with keeping operational costs at or below budget.
  • Ensures clear communication with internal operations, disposal facilities, and others in the normal course of transportation.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Supervises employees per organization chart.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
