About The Position

The Transportation Supervisor at the American Red Cross is responsible for overseeing the dispatch of volunteers and employee drivers for blood pick-up and delivery across multiple regions. This role involves coordinating transportation services, ensuring the safe operation of vehicles, and performing administrative duties to maintain an efficient logistics operation. The supervisor will also engage with volunteers, manage schedules, and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1 year of lead or supervisory experience.
• Valid driver's license and clean DMV record.
• Basic computer, reading, and communication skills.
• Effective communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interact with diverse customers.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree is a plus.
• Knowledge of blood products, supplies, and materials.
• Prior experience with volunteer programs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate schedule deliveries and shuttles, including empty box pickups using vendors, volunteers, and paid couriers.
• Train and certify volunteers and staff, assist in onboarding, and prepare work schedules for appropriate coverage.
• Make proactive adjustments to routes based on weather, traffic, and special events.
• Monitor volunteer engagement and collaborate with Volunteer Services to enhance recruitment efforts.
• Interact with customers to provide updates on deliveries and track shipments using the Transportation Management System (TMS).
• Perform invoice monitoring, reconciliation, and ensure timely payment of bills while maintaining communication with vendors.
• Evaluate vehicle needs for the site and coordinate requests with the Fleet Coordinator.
• Be available for on-call duties as required.
