About The Position

The Support Services Supervisor is responsible for supervising the daily operations of the Service Center Clerks and Radio Room Dispatchers to ensure efficiency and compliance. This position supervises staff and monitors services which include Fixed Route and Bus Rapid Transit schedules, daily absences, and the overall workforce. The Service Center Supervisor will also resolve any issues within the Service Center and Radio Room while providing customer service for operators as well.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in business or related field preferred, may substitute education with work experience.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of customer service and supervisory experience required, preferably in transit and a union environment.
  • Valid driver’s license is required; a commercial driver’s license (CDL) is a plus.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of streets, landmarks, and geography of Marion County and Indianapolis Public Transit Center bus routes.
  • Experience with Hastus, Avail, or/and ADP.
  • Ability to operate laptops, tablets, and two-way communication devices, including troubleshooting basic techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the daily activities in the Service Center and Radio Room operations department for fixed route and BRT transit systems.
  • Assist the Support Services Manager with daily services and the overall design.
  • Communicate solutions, successes, and opportunities with the Manager of Support Services.
  • Ensure team members acquire daily support, supplies and materials, training, and all necessary resources to fulfill all job duties and beyond.
  • Assign tasks, gives instructions, counsels, and supports staff as needed.
  • Serve as a reliable source of information for all staff, coach operators, and outside agencies.
  • Attend, follow up, and resolve customer complaints and comments.
  • Carry out performance measurement, monitor, and evaluate all Service Center and Radio Room staff solutions to improve efficiency.
  • Investigate internal instances and follow through with results.
  • Prepare and develop schedules to control adequate staffing levels and monitor Fixed Route and Bus Rapid Transit operators, Service Center, and Radio Room staff attendance.
  • Update databases and organize activities related to maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Responsible for processing and ensuring weekly Coach Operator and Service Center staff payroll accuracy.
  • Provide operation plans for team members and city officials for special events.
  • Conduct investigations related to Coach Operators; supports grievance hearings, Loudermill hearings, and terminations.
  • Occasionally transport operators to assigned locations.
