About The Position

UNDER GENERAL SUPERVISION, INTERPRETS TRAVEL ORDERS, DETERMINES ENTITLEMENTS AND ADVISES MILITARY AND CIVILIAN PERSONNEL, THROUGH INFORMATIONAL BRIEFS IN AN INDIVIDUAL DESK-SIDE APPOINTMENT, TELEPHONIC OR IN A CLASSROOM SETTING. INCLUDING FAMILY MEMBERS, ON THEIR APPLICABLE TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS AND PROVIDES MOVEMENT SERVICES WITHIN THOSE PARAMETERS. AIDS ALL BRANCHES OF SERVICE WITHIN THE DEFINED AREA OF REPORTS.

Requirements

  • Must possess and present a valid state Real I.D. Driver’s License.
  • Must possess high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to speak, write, read, understand English, and follow written/verbal directions.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be a self-starter; able to work as a team or independently, with limited supervision.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams).
  • Must have experience with GATES, GOPAX, Global Household Goods Contract, Joint Travel Regulations, etc., or be able to learn quickly.
  • Must be adaptable, flexible, and able to adjust to new or changing instructions.
  • Must be able to multi-task and complete assignments accurately and on time.
  • Must be able to maintain high standards of confidentiality.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours to accommodate requirements, sometimes under short notice, to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Overtime may be required.
  • Employees must complete timesheets daily, ensuring accurate data, both manually and via the required system.
  • Must submit to and pass random drug and/or alcohol testing.
  • Must perform other duties in accordance with requirements as directed.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be able to pass a National Criminal Background Check.
  • Must be able to pass the National Agency Background Check and obtain computer access.
  • Must be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC).

Responsibilities

  • Assists Service Members and Civilian personnel regarding the shipment, receipt and/or storage of personal property and household goods.
  • Processes self-counseled applications and maintains a customer scheduling system.
  • Reviews applications, orders, and other documents for completeness, accuracy, and legality of entitlements. Screens Orders for correct appropriation and authorization for shipment
  • Advises Service Members and Civilian personnel regarding shipment of special items, the liability of the commercial carrier for loss and/or damage of these items, availability of additional insurance from the carrier, and advises member of excess costs involved in the shipment of such items.
  • Computes excess cost for service members released from active duty who have shipments that are overweight or have excess distance.
  • Computes costs for comparisons when property owner wants to make two shipments of household goods or part of the household goods as Government Bill of Lading (GBL) shipment and part as a Personally Procured Move (PPM)/Do-it-Yourself (DITY) move.
  • Distributes documents, assembles forms provides instructions for shipping Privately Owned Vehicles (POVs) overseas, obtains statements from customers with attempted pickup or delivery, prepares daily statistical reports, receives visitors, and refers to correct person.
  • Assists Service Members and Civilian personnel with scheduling their travel arrangements.
  • Supports military units in securing the most advantageous/cost effective mode of transportation to scheduled training.
  • Performs other duties in accordance with requirements as directed.
