About The Position

The Transportation Specialist (Outbound) at Anatolia Tile & Stone is responsible for ensuring compliance with transportation regulations and sourcing carriers for outbound shipments across Canada and the US. This role involves building and maintaining relationships with transportation companies, managing shipments and costs, and collaborating with warehouse, logistics, and supply chain teams to ensure timely customs processes and carrier onboarding. The position reports to the Senior Manager - Transportation and requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and logistics management.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Logistics or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 to 5 years of relevant experience in a fast-paced logistics or warehousing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working with carriers and managing load variations in the import and distribution industry.
  • Proficient with MS Office database systems, specifically Excel.
  • Proficiency with SAP is required.
  • Ability to work within tight and changing deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and results-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience negotiating rates and quotes with LTL/FTL carriers for cross-border shipments.

Responsibilities

  • Source new freight companies and receive quotes for rate comparisons.
  • Negotiate pricing and terms and manage carrier scorecards to maximize efficiency and optimize costs.
  • Maintain Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable freight rates.
  • Work with carriers on chargebacks and solidify approval to do so.
  • Make decisions on routing to maximize efficiency and capacity utilization.
  • Troubleshoot delivery issues such as no shows and delays.
  • Act as backup to Senior Manager - Transportation with rate calculations and other duties as required.
  • Organize special ad-hoc shipments cost-effectively by collecting bids from different carriers.
  • Work closely with Operations and Supply Chain Department to achieve timely, effective delivery.
  • Develop and report carrier scorecards; monitor carrier performance and implement corrective actions.
  • Report expected and actual arrival dates to management.
  • Measure and improve logistics processes to deliver supply chain KPI targets.
