About The Position

The Transportation Specialist at Geisinger is responsible for providing safe and timely transportation for patients and guests, ensuring effective communication with the multidisciplinary team regarding care plans. This part-time position involves operating a transportation vehicle, assisting passengers, and maintaining vehicle safety and cleanliness.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) required.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
  • Ability to sit and drive a vehicle for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe transportation to patients and guests in a timely manner.
  • Escort passengers during transport to and from pick-up and delivery sites.
  • Follow established schedules and adjust as necessary to meet changes.
  • Determine the safest and most efficient pick-up and delivery routes.
  • Ensure all passengers wear safety belts and wheelchairs are secured during transport.
  • Report any patient or guest-related concerns noted during transport.
  • Document incidents and maintain records according to program policy.
  • Inspect and maintain vehicles in a clean and safe condition.
  • Maintain daily documentation of passenger logs, mileage, and service records.
  • Offer support services to additional departments as needed.
