About the position

Transportation Services Representative 1 Oregon Department of Transportation Driver and Motor Vehicles Division (DMV) Field Services Group / Mt. Hood Region Gladstone. The role: Bring your customer service skills to the Gladstone DMV as a transportation services representative. In this role, you will assist the public with obtaining a driver license, registering vehicles and issuing permits and license plates. In addition, you will administer knowledge, skill and vision tests to potential drivers, ensure correct fees are collected, provide information about regulations and policies and administer behind-the-wheel drive tests. Responsibilities

  • Help the public register vehicles and apply for permits.
  • Provide exceptional customer service while following privacy laws.
  • Communicate clearly with customers from diverse backgrounds to accurately answer complex questions.
  • Produce photo licenses, instruction permits and identification cards.
  • Administer, correct and explain driver license tests.
  • Conduct and interpret results of driver vision tests.
  • Perform physical examinations of vehicles and verify vehicle identification numbers.
  • Prepare daily bank deposits and count inventory.

Requirements

  • Two years of public contact/customer service experience which involved dealing with the public in person or by phone providing information about services/programs or explaining and/or applying rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Experience or training using computers to retrieve and input data.
  • Three months experience collecting money and making change.
  • Completion of an associate's degree will substitute for one year of the public contact experience.
  • Must have a valid US driver license and an acceptable driving record.
