About The Position

Transportation Services Representative 1 (Bilingual Spanish) Oregon Department of Transportation Driver and Motor Vehicles Division (DMV) Field Services Group / Sunset Region Hillsboro The role: Bring your customer service skills to the Hillsboro DMV as a bilingual transportation services representative. In this role, you will assist the public with obtaining a driver license, registering vehicles and issuing permits and license plates. In addition, you will administer knowledge, skill and vision tests to potential drivers, ensure correct fees are collected, provide information about regulations and policies and administer behind-the-wheel drive tests. Provide exceptional customer service while following privacy laws. Communicate clearly with customers from diverse backgrounds to accurately answer complex questions in a way that is easily understood. Produce photo licenses, instruction permits and identification cards. Administer, correct and explain driver license tests. Conduct and interpret results of driver vision tests. Perform physical examinations of vehicles and verify vehicle identification numbers. Prepare daily bank deposits and account for sensitive inventory. Occasionally perform relief work in other DMV offices within the region. May require standing for extended periods of time, working in inclement weather, working an irregular schedule and lifting up to 40 pounds. Must be able to type at least 30 words per minute with a high level of accuracy. A typing assessment will be conducted at the time of interview for selected candidates. Requirements

  • Two years of public contact/customer service experience which involved dealing with the public in person or by phone providing information about services/programs or explaining and/or applying rules, regulations and procedures
  • Experience or training using computers to retrieve and input data
  • Three months experience collecting money and making change.
  • Completion of an associate’s degree will substitute for one year of the public contact experience.
  • Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid US driver license and an acceptable driving record.
  • Must be able to type at least 30 words per minute with a high level of accuracy.
