About The Position

The Transportation Security Officer (TSO) role at the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) involves ensuring the security and protection of travelers at Spokane International Airport. Requirements

• Must possess U.S. Citizenship or be a U.S. National.
• Must be at least 18 years old at the time of application.
• Must pass a structured interview, drug screening, medical evaluation, and background investigation.
• Must be available to work various shifts and overtime as needed.
• Must be proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking, comprehending).
• Must meet physical requirements including the ability to lift and manipulate baggage weighing up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in the security industry, aviation screening, or as an X-ray technician.
• High school diploma or equivalent education.

Responsibilities

• Operate various screening equipment and technology to identify dangerous objects in baggage, cargo, and on passengers.
• Perform searches and screening, including physical interaction with passengers and conducting bag searches.
• Control terminal entry and exit points.
• Interact with the public, providing directions and responding to inquiries.
• Maintain focus and awareness in a stressful environment with distractions and time pressure.
• Engage in continuous development of critical thinking skills to mitigate security threats.
• Retain and implement knowledge of applicable Standard Operating Procedures.
