About The Position

The Transportation Sales Manager is responsible for managing and growing the transportation segment of the business across multiple locations. This role involves maintaining existing business relationships, acquiring new business, and working closely with the General Manager to maximize profitability. Prior experience in cold storage and transportation is a plus.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in transportation sales and/or sales management.
  • Previous experience in all aspects of Supplier Relationship Management including prospecting, selling, and closing new transportation business.
  • Experience managing, training, and developing people in sales roles.
  • Ability to gain deep knowledge of the entire suite of the company’s transportation service offerings and utilize it to maximize sales opportunities during customer solutioning.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to lead discussions, make presentations, and deliver technical results to a non-technical audience.
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
  • Ability to work in temperatures as low as -20°F (-25°C) in cold storage sites while wearing company-provided personal protective equipment and freezer gear.
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule and shift, including weekends if needed.
  • Must be comfortable with various noise levels, which can be loud at times.

  • Prior experience in cold storage and transportation is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, train, and provide performance feedback to direct reports.
  • Assign duties to ensure productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Develop targeted action plans for generating new transportation sales leads and prospects.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships within the transportation sector.
  • Create and deliver proposal presentations and responses to Requests for Proposals (rate quotes) to address prospective clients' transportation challenges.
  • Partner with other Sales Managers to sell the suite of transportation services across the FreezPak network.
  • Ensure timely collection of transportation accounts receivable.
  • Develop and maintain accurate records of all pricing, sales, and activity reports to achieve maximum profit margin in transportation.
  • Maintain awareness of performance against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and provide sales performance updates to Senior Management.
  • Manage budget and control expenses to ensure compliance with targets and guidelines.
  • Partner with the General Manager and facility leadership team to achieve operational efficiencies and continuous improvement targets in transportation sales.
