About The Position

As a Transportation Safety Specialist, you'll provide complete accident / citation review, investigation, and recommendation to comply with H-E-B policy. You'll help train leaders on federal and state regulations, and serve as a liaison between Safety, internal / external customers, and federal / state / local officials. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
  • 1+ years of experience in Safety or related field (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of federal / state motor carrier regulations
  • Strong verbal / written communication skills
  • Strong training and presentation skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Intermediate PC skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to organize and accomplish manage multiple priorities and shift focus between tasks; attention to detail

  • Participation in local / state Safety Professional organizations (preferred)
  • Participation in continuing education courses / seminars / conferences related to safety, transportation, or regulatory compliance (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Provides support with federal / state officials during compliance audits
  • Reviews / communicates violations of Driver Qualification File (DQF) to leaders
  • Provides onsite review and audit of driver / vehicle records; conducts inspections of equipment as necessary
  • Ensures all required accident / citation investigation documentation is complete
  • Reviews accidents / citations; investigates as necessary
  • Makes recommendations to Safety and Operations leaders for resolutions, additional training, or consequences upon completion of accident / citation investigation on all but complex investigations
  • Provides regular (period, quarter / YTD) audit reviews of citation and accident history to leaders
  • Provides intermediate level customer service to internal / external customers via phone, email, or in person
  • Resolves / escalates motorist and Driver concerns
  • Maintains driver safety mileage data for all Drivers; provides data to Delivery Ops or others as needed
  • Reviews Driver safety mileage data for Driver Recognition and Hall of Fame eligibility purposes
  • Participates in cross functional projects as directed
  • Performs Associate Safety Specialist duties
  • Performs audits of Driver qualification processes / documentation
  • Administers Drug and Alcohol Program
  • Processes / coordinates accident appeals
  • Monitors / ensures compliance with hours of service (HOS) regulations
  • Supports Driver Recognition Program-Safety Awards
  • Administers / maintains processes and documentation on motor vehicle records (MVR) (initial and annual)
