The Transportation Routing and Technology Coordinator at Pittsburgh Public Schools plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective delivery of transportation services for students across the city. In this role, the coordinator will conduct daily reviews and verifications of transportation routes to ensure accuracy and prevent overlaps. They will collaborate with carriers, dispatchers, and safety personnel to manage the operations of bus GPS units and video systems. Weekly reviews of bus video footage will be conducted to ensure compliance with proper procedures by drivers. The coordinator will also monitor vehicle routes throughout the school year using GPS tracking to ensure adherence to carrier contracts. Additionally, the coordinator will maintain and manage a database containing essential information such as student addresses and bus driver details, ensuring that this data is accurately integrated into routing software. They will work closely with external agencies and internal personnel to resolve any data or routing issues and will assist in the implementation of the parent tracking app, Stop Finder, to enhance communication with families. The role also involves investigating complaints regarding transportation services and driver conduct, conducting route audits, and providing feedback to improve safety and efficiency. The coordinator will document departmental procedures, recommend improvements, and provide regular updates to their supervisor regarding progress and challenges. This position requires effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders to support the goals of the transportation department and the overall mission of Pittsburgh Public Schools.
