About The Position

Are you motivated by owning study-phase and/or design-phase deliverables across civil, environmental, construction, and industrial projects with a strong Site Civil component? The Transportation: Roadway Staff Civil Engineer provides technical leadership for civil engineering projects through planning, evaluation, design, and implementation that integrate roadway and Site Civil solutions. This role leads study and/or design phases for projects in the civil, environmental, construction, and industrial sectors with regular coordination on Site Civil elements. The position collaborates regularly with internal teams and clients, with occasional interaction with public agencies. The Staff Civil Engineer manages assigned co‑ops and interns, represents the Company professionally, and demonstrates intermediate proficiency in at least two engineering software applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field with experience in Site Civil Engineering, preferred.
  • 3-5 years of transportation engineering experience preferred.
  • Ability to complete basic design projects from start to finish as the primary designer on Site Civil or roadway projects.
  • Working knowledge of state and local regulations, with ability to perform municipal plan reviews.
  • Fundamental understanding of civil engineering principles, practices, and construction methods.
  • Proficiency with CAD and related design, data, and analysis software.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with an analytical and creative approach.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy.
  • U.S. work authorization required.

Nice To Haves

  • PE licensure preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Focus on roadway design projects that interface with Site Civil development.
  • Provide engineering guidance to project stakeholders and management on design and construction requirements.
  • Develop and communicate designs using engineering software and drafting tools, including site and detention design.
  • Establish design criteria and specifications through engineering analysis (e.g., hydraulics, traffic demand, earthwork).
  • Plan projects using drawings, surveys, maps, aerials, and geotechnical/topographical data.
  • Prepare technical reports, including detention and engineering due diligence reports.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for materials, equipment, and labor.
  • Coordinate with architects, contractors, engineers, and surveyors to ensure accurate layouts, grades, and project execution.
  • Monitor project progress to ensure compliance with design standards and specifications.
  • Share and teach company methodologies and best practices to team members.
  • Demonstrate intermediate proficiency in civil engineering principles and design tools.
  • Participate in professional meetings, associations, and networking activities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
