Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
• 0-3 years of previous roadway engineering experience
• EI certification a plus (at minimum-FE exam should be scheduled)
• Knowledge of Open Roads and/or MicroStation / GEOPAK / Corridor Modeling software a plus
• Experience with NCDOT design standards and practices is preferred.
• Basic Microsoft Excel & Word skills
• Must be willing to travel on occasion.
• Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license prior to employment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering design, calculations, CAD support, and project assistance to the Transportation Design Group.
• Design and complete assigned projects on time, within budget, and of high quality.
• Use project specifications, detailed drawings, and verbal instructions to complete assignments.
• Perform calculations, prepare material and specifications, and provide preliminary sketches and notes for drawings.
• Plan, schedule, and execute all phases of a highway design project.
• Perform preliminary, right-of-way and final engineering design.
• Work closely with engineer/project managers to obtain project information, recommend changes and ensure drawings are accurate and complete.
