Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is seeking a Transportation Quality Assurance Inspector Supervisor for positions available on PennDOT initiatives across Pennsylvania. The successful candidates will apply standard quality assurance inspection procedures to ongoing activities during and after construction for structural quality, general safety, and conformance to plans, specifications and codes. This is a Quality Assurance Supervisory inspection position on a large, multiyear, complex, highway construction project which includes multiple structures, roadway restoration and traffic improvements.

  • Verify and document compliance with contract requirements and PennDOT construction requirements.
  • Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods to ensure compliance with legal requirements and safety regulations.
  • Perform verification of conformance to standards for testing on concrete, soils, and other materials.
  • Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codes.
  • Coordinate and supervise project quality assurance inspection activities and staff to ensure contractor compliance of plans, contract documents, specifications, and standards.
  • Assign, schedule and maintain subordinate quality assurance inspection staff throughout all phases of the project.
  • Draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction related field issues.
  • Gather, review, and maintain project records using PennDOT ECMS and other documentation systems.
  • Compose field notes, computations and prepare reports as required.
  • Interact with the general public, government agencies, contractors, sub-contractors, and other internal and external parties including response to inquiries.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of Highway and Structure Construction Related Inspection Experience.
  • 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • One year as a Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor or ability to act in an Owner's Agent/Responsible in Charge role.
  • Strong Computer proficiency, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Active driver's license and reliable motor vehicle.
  • Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening.
  • NICET Level 3 with structure type project experience or twenty years minimum highway and bridge construction inspection supervision/management or acceptable related experience.
  • NECEPT-Bituminous Field Technician.
  • PennDOT Concrete Field Technician (ACI Concrete Field Technician is prerequisite).
  • CDS NeXtGen and/or ECMS Wave 5.
  • Two years of construction inspection experience and an associate's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology and 1 year of supervisory experience.
