Our work is done through projects and Garver is seeking a Transportation Project Manager to manage schematic projects as part of our growing team in the Austin, TX area in our Austin or Round Rock office . They will be mentored and trained as seller-doers with opportunities to lead projects, market our services, interact with the biggest transportation clients in Texas, and perform the work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Professional interpersonal and leadership skills, including a willingness to learn and be coached by a mentor.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Eight (8) to fifteen (15) years of relevant experience
  • Practical working knowledge of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Green Book, the Roadside Design Guide, the Highway Capacity Manual (HCM), and the Manual Uniform Traffic Control Device (MUTCD) as well as TxDOT Design manuals and processes
  • Experience with Bentley software - OpenRoads, MicroStation, Geopak or and/or other roadway design software
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office / Office 365
  • Geometric design for roadways/interchanges
  • Drainage design
  • Construction sequencing and traffic control
  • Utility relocation coordination

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in consulting engineering with a primary focus on TxDOT (or other DOT) transportation projects
  • Experience preparing fee Scope, Schedule, and Fee proposals
  • Experience managing projects with direct client interaction and client management

Responsibilities

  • Project and design team management
  • Sub-consultant coordination
  • Project/task scheduling
  • Lean and mentor staff to and perform Transportation Design (Highways, Municipal Roadways, Roadway Drainage, Signing / Pavement Markings, Bicycle/Pedestrian facilities)
  • Plan production oversight
  • Preparing cost estimates
  • Client interaction
  • Marketing activities such as preparing proposals and letters of interest, and participation in interviews and other presentations.
  • Supervises and mentors Project Engineers and/or Engineers in Training and takes responsibility for their growth and performance.
