The Transportation Planning Lead 1 provides complex planning services including preparing transportation system plans, modal plans, long-range plans, transportation studies, transportation planning work programs, and other transportation-related planning documents. Duties include self-performing and leading others to conduct research, data analysis, technical writing and plan development, leading public meetings and outreach, preparing presentation materials and graphics, agency and stakeholder coordination, and other duties as assigned. The person in this position is expected to exercise a strong work ethic, desire to learn new skills, mentor others with less experience, and have excellent organizational and communication skills. A Transportation Planning Lead 1 should demonstrate excellent proficiency in and assist with managing transportation planning efforts, develop scope and budget documents for new projects, manage technical planning-related tasks, quickly learn and apply new transportation planning concepts, quality control the work of others, and exercise discretion and judgement in all work tasks. This person is expected to work well with others, absorb and apply constructive criticism, and seek input and guidance from more experienced members of the team as necessary. This position primarily works autonomously and without oversight.
