Position Overview: Join the Woolpert Team for an internship experience that offers real-world project involvement within a supportive environment alongside ample opportunities for professional and personal growth specific to our community of students. At this time, we are seeking a Transportation Planning Intern (Co-op) in Woolpert’s Cincinnati, Ohio office for the summer semester. This position would be a part-time internship for the Spring 2026 semester (10-20 hours per week). We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position. Applicants must already possess work authorization in the country the job is located. What you will do: The Transportation Planning Intern will work alongside the Woolpert Transportation group on various projects, learning how to apply GIS mapping and analysis, graphics support, public involvement, client communications, and full report production including writing and editing. Our clients include federal, state, and local government agencies; development firms; Metropolitan Planning Organizations; public-private partnerships; and all projects include the implementation of planning principles. Our projects directly impact the communities through context-sensitive design. Each internship semester offers an enriched 3-to-4-month program with a supportive and collaborative virtual, in-person or hybrid environment. We recognize that school comes first for students. Managers work with their interns to find a schedule that works best for both parties.

Requirements

  • Be enrolled as a student at an accredited college or university, preferably with at least third-year status
  • Be studying Planning, Architecture, Engineering, Sustainability or a related field
  • Be an investigative learner, ask questions and demonstrate curiosity to learn more
  • Have a general understanding and working knowledge of various graphics capability including ArcGIS, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and related programs
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Function well in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Have exceptional multitasking and time management skills
  • You must be able to pass a background check and drug screen prior to employment.
  • Because some of our projects are working with the federal government, you must be a U.S citizen to apply for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of the Woolpert Transportation Group
  • Gain real-world experience working alongside planners, architects, engineers and other designers
  • Learn about developing plans that are customized to each of our client’s needs as well as the planning context in order to establish a long-range vision for sustainable, equitable, and safe multimodal transportation networks and communities
