Summary The Transportation Patient Engagement Specialist (PES) serves as a primary support figure for patients in early recovery while ensuring safe, reliable transportation to approved destinations. This role helps maintain a structured, supportive environment by monitoring patient movement, assisting with daily operations, and fostering positive engagement. Ideal candidates remain calm under pressure, value consistency, and are deeply committed to supporting recovery.

Requirements

High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
Minimum 1 year of experience working with behavioral health or substance use populations strongly preferred
Valid, unrestricted driver's license with a clean driving record (3+ years preferred)
Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress or crisis situations
Strong conflict-resolution and boundary-setting skills
Physically able to respond to emergencies, including lifting or running if needed
Crisis intervention training strongly preferred
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport
Commitment to a drug-free lifestyle and passion for supporting recovery
Authorization to work in the United States required

Responsibilities

Provide daily support, accountability, and positive engagement for patients in treatment
Safely transport patients to appointments, meetings, and approved off-site activities
Monitor patient movement and uphold program rules and safety expectations
Lead or support non-clinical enrichment activities such as light fitness, guided meditation, or peer-led discussions
Supervise or accompany patients during off-campus 12-step meetings and community events
Maintain oversight of communal areas, including courtyards, lounges, and meal spaces
De-escalate conflicts and model calm, professional communication
Assist with light cleaning tasks and help maintain an orderly, respectful facility environment
Document observations and communicate relevant information to clinical or leadership staff
Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and emotional composure at all times
Participate in team meetings, required training, and ongoing professional development
