Summary The Transportation Patient Engagement Specialist (PES) serves as a primary support figure for patients in early recovery while ensuring safe, reliable transportation to approved destinations. This role helps maintain a structured, supportive environment by monitoring patient movement, assisting with daily operations, and fostering positive engagement. Ideal candidates remain calm under pressure, value consistency, and are deeply committed to supporting recovery.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with behavioral health or substance use populations strongly preferred
  • Valid, unrestricted driver's license with a clean driving record (3+ years preferred)
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress or crisis situations
  • Strong conflict-resolution and boundary-setting skills
  • Physically able to respond to emergencies, including lifting or running if needed
  • Crisis intervention training strongly preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport
  • Commitment to a drug-free lifestyle and passion for supporting recovery
  • Authorization to work in the United States required

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily support, accountability, and positive engagement for patients in treatment
  • Safely transport patients to appointments, meetings, and approved off-site activities
  • Monitor patient movement and uphold program rules and safety expectations
  • Lead or support non-clinical enrichment activities such as light fitness, guided meditation, or peer-led discussions
  • Supervise or accompany patients during off-campus 12-step meetings and community events
  • Maintain oversight of communal areas, including courtyards, lounges, and meal spaces
  • De-escalate conflicts and model calm, professional communication
  • Assist with light cleaning tasks and help maintain an orderly, respectful facility environment
  • Document observations and communicate relevant information to clinical or leadership staff
  • Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and emotional composure at all times
  • Participate in team meetings, required training, and ongoing professional development
