About The Position

The Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) is hiring seasonal Transportation Operations Technicians to support highway maintenance and operations in Clarendon. This hands-on role involves a variety of tasks that keep Vermont’s roads safe and reliable, including repairing guardrails, patching pavement, ditching, clearing brush, and picking up litter. Seasonal staff also play a critical role in plowing and salting during winter weather events. This is a temporary position. Temporary work is typically for variable hours and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week. Requirements

One (1) year of work experience in construction, equipment operation, or related manual labor INCLUDING EITHER one season of operating a snowplow with wings OR six (6) months of operating medium or heavy equipment, such as graders, excavators, and backhoes.
ORUpon successful completion of original probation as a Transportation Operations Technician I AND possession of a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with tanker endorsement.
A Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required.
An incumbent must live within reasonable proximity of assigned workstation.
Possession of a Class A Commercial Driver's License with Tanker Endorsement is required within the first six months of employment.
An incumbent must complete all VTTC required coursework within one (1) year or be enrolled.
Note: Non-original probationary employees must obtain a required CDL license prior to the completion of six (6) months of service in the position.
In accordance with federal regulation, any person applying for employment as an operator of a commercial motor vehicle must provide detailed employment information for the past 10 years.
