About The Position

The Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) is hiring seasonal Transportation Operations Technicians to support highway maintenance and winter operations in Lyndon. This hands-on role involves a variety of tasks that keep Vermont’s roads safe and reliable, including repairing guardrails, patching pavement, ditching, clearing brush, and picking up litter. Seasonal staff also play a critical role in plowing and salting during winter weather events. Overtime may be required.

Requirements

• One (1) year of work experience in construction, equipment operation, or related manual labor including either one season of operating a snowplow with wings or six (6) months of operating medium or heavy equipment, such as graders, excavators, and backhoes.
• Possession of a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required.
• Must live within reasonable proximity of assigned workstation.
• Possession of a Class A Commercial Driver's License with Tanker Endorsement is required within the first six months of employment.
• Must complete all VTTC required coursework within one (1) year or be enrolled.
