About The Position

Transportation Operations Manager – Florida Martz Bus – St. Petersburg, FL Martz Bus is seeking a strong, hands-on Operations Manager to lead our Florida location. This leader is responsible for the daily execution of service, driver leadership, and operational performance — while ensuring safety and training are embedded into everything we do. At Martz, safety is not a separate department. It is how we operate. The Operations Manager sets the tone for professionalism, accountability, and next-level customer service.

Requirements

  • Has proven experience leading daily operations, logistics, dispatch, or fleet environments
  • Can coach, hold people accountable, and build trust with frontline teams
  • Stays calm under pressure and makes clear decisions
  • Understands that safety and service are inseparable
  • Is comfortable working flexible hours to support operational needs
  • Must be an effective communicator, written and verbal
  • Must be a hands-on manager
  • Must be able to work flexible shifts
  • Must be available during off hours to address any operational challenges or crisis
  • Must be able to multi-task and meet strict guidelines
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Office and Coach Manager
  • Ability to monitor and interpret safety events/telematics and apply coaching/corrective action consistently
  • High School Diploma
  • Five (5) years of transportation experience; or 7 years of leadership experience in an operational position

Responsibilities

  • Transportation Operations Leadership
  • Own daily dispatch and service execution
  • Manage driver boards and staffing coverage
  • Oversee all active trips and service fulfillment
  • Handle call-outs and secure replacements
  • Apply bus/driver changes and trip updates accurately
  • Coordinate with maintenance on daily boards, ADA lift needs, and overnight trip planning
  • Ensure operational readiness (cleaner priorities, next-day prep)
  • Confirm driver worksheets and payroll times for accuracy
  • Respond to real-time operational challenges and customer needs
  • Lead daily PVI checklists and driver safety engagement
  • Monitor Samsara events and determine coaching or corrective action
  • Conduct ride-alongs and driver evaluations
  • Investigate incidents and drive corrective action
  • Publish weekly driver scorecards and safety reports
  • Oversee new hire safety onboarding
  • Coordinate drug testing (pre-employment & random)
  • Monitor driver physical expirations
  • Track LMS and KnowBe4 completion
  • Maintain compliance documentation
  • Conduct monthly facility and fire extinguisher inspections
