This position is responsible for the safe and secure management of the inmate, detainee and/or resident population and trip movement, following sound correctional and transportation industry practices. The role involves ensuring the safe and orderly operation of assigned trips, promoting public and staff safety, and maintaining a secure and humane environment for inmates, detainees, and residents. Key duties include monitoring and supervising inmate activity, resolving disputes, reporting incidents, conducting inspections, maintaining communication with management and team members, and adhering to policies regarding trip routes, equipment maintenance, resource management, and the application of restraints and use of force. If qualified, the officer may be assigned as the Assistant Officer in Charge (AOIC) on trip activity unless otherwise directed by their supervisor.
