POSITION SUMMARY: The Manager Transportation manages the daily activities of transportation including, Retail, Less Than Load (LTL), and other Self-Performed Transportation. The incumbent frequently interacts with internal and external customers. Ensures transportation is provided in a safe, compliant and efficient manner. PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES: Coaches and develops a team of professionals to assist in their development and attainment of necessary skills to lift performance. Monitors staff performance and drives performance improvement initiatives and ensures that service levels meet or exceed agreed upon standards. Manages operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management. Manages transportation assets such as tractors, roll-offs, tankers, box trailers. Manages performance with emphasis on productivity, efficiency, and service delivery. Provides training to drivers and other staff members. Conducts transportation compliance audits and reviews financial reports and invoices for accuracy and adherence to budget. Monitors and assists with keeping operational costs below budget levels. Identifies risk and potential production issues and recommends and implements continuous improvement opportunities. Provides technical support to the sales, customer service and operations departments. Assists with distribution and transportation planning and strategic activities. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
