About the position

The Transportation Manager at Takhar Transportation is responsible for overseeing all aspects of fuel transportation operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, managing fleet maintenance, and optimizing delivery schedules. This role is critical for maintaining the efficiency and safety of logistics operations, leading a team of drivers, and ensuring customer satisfaction through reliable deliveries.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the transportation of fuel, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries while adhering to safety and regulatory standards.
  • Develop and implement efficient routes to minimize costs, reduce delivery times, and improve overall fleet performance.
  • Ensure that all operations comply with FMCSA, BUSTR, DOT, EPA, and other relevant local, state, and federal regulations regarding hazardous materials transportation.
  • Monitor and maintain the fleet of fuel hauling vehicles, including scheduling regular inspections, ensuring compliance with maintenance schedules, and addressing repair needs.
  • Lead, train, and supervise a team of drivers, ensuring they adhere to safety protocols and comply with all regulations (including Hazmat certification and CDL requirements).
  • Coordinate and schedule fuel deliveries to meet customer needs while optimizing routes for fuel efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Work closely with the operations team to ensure customer satisfaction through reliable and timely deliveries.
  • Develop and enforce safety protocols, including procedures for emergency response, spill prevention, and hazardous material handling.
  • Maintain accurate delivery logs, fleet records, driver certifications, and compliance documentation. Prepare and review performance reports for management.
  • Oversee transportation-related expenses, working to minimize costs through efficient operations, while ensuring a high level of service and safety.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in transportation management, with a focus on fuel hauling, hazardous materials, or logistics.
  • Strong knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, EPA, BUSTR, and other regulatory compliance requirements related to fuel transportation.
  • Hazmat and CDL certifications (preferred).
  • Proven experience in fleet management, including vehicle maintenance, route planning, and cost control.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and train drivers and other team members.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in logistics software, route optimization tools, and fleet management systems.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations and ensure operations run smoothly even in challenging circumstances.
  • A strong commitment to safety and a proven track record in maintaining safety standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with fuel hauling logistics and hazardous materials management.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations related to fuel transportation and storage.
  • Knowledge of cost control techniques and strategies for optimizing fuel delivery operations.
  • CDL and Hazmat certifications are a plus.
