About The Position

The role is focused on providing safe transportation for up to 1,000 students daily while managing operational costs. The successful candidate will manage a team of up to 20 people and collaborate with campus leaders to ensure success.

Requirements

  • GED or High School Diploma.
  • Experience in the operation of large passenger vehicles or equivalent experience and training.
  • Ability to manage student behavior.
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with class P and S endorsements.
  • Completion of a bus driver safety training course.
  • Must be over 21 years old.
  • Pass alcohol and drug tests.
  • DOT Physical Examination.
  • Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish).

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safe transportation of all students with a goal of zero preventable incidents/accidents.
  • Screen and test potential candidates for excellent skills in operating a school bus.
  • Train drivers in Pre/Post Trip inspections.
  • Promote a culture of safety and hold the team accountable for safety initiatives.
  • Maintain up-to-date credentials for drivers.
  • Ensure compliance with time schedules and applicable laws, codes, rules, and regulations.
  • Oversee daily operations of the dispatch office and monitor two-way radios.
  • Respond to drivers' accidents and conduct internal accident investigations.
  • Handle emergency calls after hours and on weekends.
  • Maintain an efficient operation with a cost per mile of less than $3.70.
  • Develop driver schedules that prioritize driving duties.
  • Audit team participation to prevent system abuse.
  • Monitor preventive maintenance to avoid costly repairs.
  • Serve as a substitute Bus Driver when needed.
  • Create a work environment that promotes a minimum of 85% transportation staff retention.
  • Screen employees to ensure quality hires.
  • Maintain fleet in safe operating condition with a 7% savings on maintenance costs.
  • Utilize Transfinder to create and update routes.
  • Keep driver and student records up-to-date in Route Finder.
  • Analyze reports using Synovia to assess fleet performance.
  • Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
