About The Position

Position provides oversight, direction and coordination for all Transportation operations and maintenance (O&M) activities at assigned jobsite to ensure adherence to contractual objectives. This role requires an individual who has excellent management skills and a deep understanding of vehicle components, maintenance requirements and WHE programs and equipment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education
  • 5 years' experience management the same size project
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Knowledge of NAVFAC P-300, NAVFAC P-307, and NAVSEA OP-2239, DOD 4500.36R, NAVSUP P-538, NAVSEA SWO23, and NAVSEA OP5.
  • Must be able to pass a local background check and have the ability to obtain and maintain security clearance after hire.

Responsibilities

  • Manage vehicle maintenance schedules and repairs to ensure all vehicles are safe, reliable, and compliant with regulations.
  • Oversee maintenance staff, including mechanics and technicians, and ensure proper training and scheduling of work.
  • Develop and maintain budgets for vehicle maintenance and repairs, and ensure costs are kept within budget limits.
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance, repairs, and expenses, and report on these to senior management.
  • Identify and implement improvements to vehicle maintenance processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards, including the use of personal protective equipment, safe handling of hazardous materials, and adherence to safety procedures.
  • Ensure all vehicles are properly licensed, registered, and ensured, and that appropriate documentation is kept up to date.
  • Conduct regular inspections of vehicles to identify maintenance needs and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Works closely with Government personnel to ensure compliance.
  • Works with Navy Crane Center and Certifying officials to ensure compliance with WHE program. Ensure all WHE Technicians are properly trained.
  • Coordinate with other departments or outside vendors to arrange for the purchase, leasing, or disposal of vehicles.
  • Maintain professional relationships with vendors, suppliers, and other industry professionals to stay up to date on latest technology, techniques, and trends.
  • Oversee daily transportation operations, including fleet scheduling, routing, and dispatch.
  • Develop and implement cost-effective transportation strategies that improve delivery times and reduce fuel consumption.
  • Monitor driver performance, ensuring compliance with DOT regulations, safety protocols, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with warehouse, procurement, and customer service teams to align transportation with broader supply chain goals.
  • Analyze transportation data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of drivers, dispatchers, and mechanics.
  • Responsible for the safety of all personnel on job, including sub-personnel, compliance with environmental standards and quality of work performed.
  • Conducts training of staff, as well as safety meetings and briefings.
  • Maintain relationship with labor union contacts and determine how to handle grievances.
  • Research and address customer and employee complaints.
  • Other duties as assigned.
