As Transportation Maintenance III, your role will focus on ensuring that diesel-powered vehicles in the RKT fleet are maintained and repaired to meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. You'll be responsible for conducting regular inspections, diagnosing issues, performing repairs, and keeping detailed maintenance records. Additionally, you'll need to stay updated on DOT regulations and industry best practices to ensure the fleet operates safely and efficiently. Ensure equipment availability for use by completing preventative maintenance schedules and installing component and part upgrades. Complete dry service on equipment to include lubrication of components, fluid checks, and inspection of all hoses and belts. Complete wet service on equipment, including refilling fluids (engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, windshield fluid, etc.) Diagnosis of electrical malfunctions to determine needed repairs and/or replacements. Inspect, service, and replace trailer parts, including tire checks. Maintain hub and axles and adjust or replace when required. Service and repair the brake, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Repairs and/or replaces starters, alternators, and air pumps. Repairs and/or replaces water pumps and T-Stats. Run and analyze diagnostic tests on diesel engines and interpret the results to offer suitable solutions. Replace vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmission, differential, and braking systems. Ensure that equipment meets the U.S. Department of Transportation road safety requirements.= Compile inspection reports, document repairs, and report all findings to management. Have a sound understanding of repair tools, equipment, and testing machinery. Ensure the proper maintenance and organization of tools, equipment, and the shop area to promote safety and availability within the workspace. May be required to cross-train and perform other duties.
