About The Position

Utilize the domestic Transportation Management System (TMS) to plan, support, and execute inbound transportation from vendors and internal facilities. The Load Planner ensures efficient and cost effective delivery of inbound freight by evaluating distance, transit time, capacity, and operational constraints. This role serves as a key liaison between vendors, Inbound Procurement, and Medline facilities to support on time performance and transportation cost targets. Job Description Analyze transportation and distribution systems and procedures to ensure the efficient and economical delivery of the organization's products. Evaluate freight classifications, tariff rates and operating efficiency to ensure the proper delivery of products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics / Transportation / Finance or Business
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a Transportation, Supply Chain, Distribution or Business Analysis.
  • Working knowledge level of Transportation practices.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Transportation Management Systems
  • Advanced skill level in Microsoft Excel and data analysis
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Access or other database management tools. (For example: designing and creating simple queries, modifying data types, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SAP.
  • Experience in TMS systems (OTM strongly preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Generate and analyze transportation cost and service performance metrics to support internal divisions, operations teams, and carrier performance review meetings.
  • Troubleshoot shipment routing issues and carrier‑related inquiries from vendors and internal customers, including support of the central Transportation mailbox.
  • Support service level targets and route guide compliance by collaborating with branch locations and Transportation Operations
  • Analyze transportation cost data by mode, distance, frequency, and utilization; evaluate expense trends across general ledger accounts and assist in developing transportation solutions that optimize cost and service outcomes.
  • Collaborate with vendors and third‑party logistics providers to improve inbound routing compliance, increase shipment and cost visibility, and ensure sufficient transportation capacity to support the distribution network.
  • Monitor carrier performance and develop scorecards to drive continuous improvement across cost and service; assist with freight bill audit
