Stantec's New England Transportation group is looking for an intern in Vermont for Summer 2026. We are looking for an individual that is passionate about improving our communities through the thoughtful planning and design of transportation systems and infrastructure. This person will learn about enhancing multimodal connections, prioritizing equity and accessibility, and making roadways and bridges more adaptive and resilient to climate change. This role is an exciting opportunity for an individual looking to work collaboratively as part of a project team and gain a better understanding of the project development process for transportation projects of varying scale and complexity.

Requirements

  • Must have good organizational and time management skills.
  • Be punctual, reliable, detail oriented, and capable of taking initiative and working independently when needed.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills in both office and virtual environments.
  • Microsoft Office experience is a plus.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D, MicroStation and/or OpenRoads Designer, ArcGIS, and/or Adobe Creative Suite software is a plus.
  • Previous internship or co-op experience in similar type work or office environment is a plus.
  • Willingness to perform field visits, as needed.
  • Must be a college student working towards a bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Assist project teams and administrative staff by preparing or compiling studies, memos, reports, spreadsheets and graphs, drawings, calculations, research and other tasks in support of various transportation projects.
  • Work as part of a team on projects in Vermont and New England, learning how to develop plans, quantity take-off, and cost estimating.
  • Learn from current professionals at varying career levels as part of a design team.
  • Assist with field visits for data gathering for various projects.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned to support the team.
