About The Position

The Fleet Manager manages and assists in the overall planning and direction of the Company owned transport operations and ensures compliance with all federal, state and local rules and regulations and Company policies and procedures. The Fleet Manager is responsible for managing, hiring, training, evaluating, and motivating the Regional Transportation team, which includes immediate reports and their subordinates. This role also involves assisting in the development of policies, programs, and procedures for the fleet transportation system.

Responsibilities

• Manages and assists in the overall planning and direction of the Company owned transport operations.
• Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local rules and regulations and Company policies and procedures.
• Manages, hires, trains, evaluates and motivates the Regional Transportation team.
• Assists in the development of policies, programs and procedures for the fleet transportation system.
• Manages and assists in the coordination of activities of transport personnel responsible for loading, transporting and offloading of product.
• Oversees and assists in the design, development and implementation of plans regarding fleet vehicle schedules, licensing and maintenance.
• Ensures all employees are trained and in compliance with all transportation policies, procedures and programs.
• Develops departmental budget, establishes direction and sets priorities for spending based upon Company guidelines and strategies.
• Keeps abreast of federal, state and local laws and regulations related to transport of hazardous materials, EPA and OSHA.
• Provides timely communication of critical events that will affect schedule and/or budget.
• Implements efficient handling and transportation of cargo.
• Works with supply partners in effective movement of supply to maximize in stock position.
• Conducts performance appraisals and recommends salary considerations for subordinates.
• Completes departmental reporting as needed.
• Completes other duties, including special projects, as assigned by Management.
