As the next statewide ancillary structures assistant program manager, you will be responsible for being a part of the statewide structural authority for MDOT-owned ancillary structures, leading the ancillary structure team with innovative design, construction, and preservation of Michigan's structural assets, serving as the department's statewide ancillary structures development specialist and consultant project manager, managing the inspection, asset management, and design activities for ancillary structures, including retaining walls, traffic signals, and ITS structures, managing the preparation of plans, specifications, and reports, and performing research and training, reviewing plans for ancillary structure, road, and bridge design projects, and managing consultant contracts for innovative solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Being a part of the statewide structural authority for MDOT-owned ancillary structures.
  • Leading the ancillary structure team with innovative design, construction, and preservation of Michigan's structural assets.
  • Serving as the department's statewide ancillary structures development specialist and consultant project manager.
  • Managing the inspection, asset management, and design activities for ancillary structures, including retaining walls, traffic signals, and ITS structures.
  • Managing the preparation of plans, specifications, and reports, and performing research and training.
  • Reviewing plans for ancillary structure, road, and bridge design projects.
  • Managing consultant contracts for innovative solutions.

Requirements

  • Possession of a bachelor of science degree in engineering.
  • Four years of professional experience equivalent to a Transportation Engineer, including two years equivalent to a Transportation Engineer P11 or one year equivalent to a Transportation Engineer 12 or Transportation Engineer Licensed 12.
  • Possess a registered professional engineering license as required by the State of Michigan.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
