Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with an interest in Transportation or Rail Engineering
  • A Junior in their program is highly preferred
  • Possess a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Experience preparing drawings/detailing plans using MicroStation and/or Auto-CAD through drafting classes or other CAD experience
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171
  • Moffatt & Nichol uses E-Verify and employment is contingent upon the legal ability to obtain employment in the U.S. and to present the required documentation at hire

Nice To Haves

  • EIT certification preferred
  • At least one previous related internship preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the design and preparation of horizontal and vertical track alignments, typical sections and details to be included in conceptual sketches, plans and exhibits
  • Performs design calculations, prepares sketches, technical comparisons and similar technical work as required by assignment
  • Studies, evaluates and documents design criteria and researches applicable codes, and present findings to project engineering team for implementation
  • Coordinates project assignments with those of other engineers and technicians in his/her discipline group and with other technical disciplines as necessary
  • Calculates quantities of elements for construction of railroad projects
  • Supports the development and preparation of Plans, Specifications and Estimates
  • Occasional visits to the rail project sites may occur
  • Assist with similar duties in other engineering disciplines (highways, structures, ports and harbors) assigned by Project Mangers
