Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Four years of progressive experience in transportation engineering, including roadway design, drainage, and coordination with state and local transportation agencies or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Nice To Haves

  • Proven experience with MDOT standards and procedures.
  • Proficiency with design and drafting software such as MicroStation, OpenRoads, InRoads, or Civil 3D and hydrologic and hydraulic software. (e.g. TR-55, TR-20, HEC-RAS).
  • Experience preparing plan sets, technical memoranda, quantities, and cost estimates
  • Knowledge of erosion and sediment control and stormwater management permitting requirements
  • Proficient coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, agencies, and subconsultants
  • Experience supporting construction activities, including RFIs, shop drawing reviews, and inspections
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in time management and ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously
  • PE license in Maryland (or ability to obtain).

Responsibilities

  • Lead, prepare or review detailed design deliverables such as calculations, reports, models, permit applications, construction drawings and specifications.
  • Advise project teams on technical issues, perform deliverable quality reviews, assist with annual performance evaluations, support the professional development of junior engineers, assist with reporting project status and responsible to deliver elements of design within the project schedule and budget.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary design elements with other task leaders and/or group managers.
  • Utilize modeling software applications for efficient design and coordination.
  • Enhance client relationships as it pertains to our transportation civil engineering and water resources capabilities.
  • May assist with staffing and business development.
  • Mentor engineers and designers within the group
